Technology supports the writing process in
several ways: Work is easily stored and reproduced; Work is easily shared
among peers and with teachers; Revising/editing is simplified.
The network supports teaching and learning by providing
an open environment for sharing of student work among peers and with teachers;
storage and management of teacher and student information.
Electronic research extends teaching and learning opportunities
by providing access to a vast array of information resources; access to a
variety of models developed by others through previous research; connections
among people, places and products.
Through the use of email and teleconferences, students
will develop as Collaborative Workers, who demonstrate effective interpersonal
skills and Effective Communicators, who convey ideas clearly and communicate
with a variety of audiences in a variety of ways.
Students use spreadsheets and databases in many
subject areas and phases of learning to Collect, interpret, evaluate and communicate
information mathematically; Present information for a variety of audiences
using a variety of techniques; Understand how primary data, including digital
data, are transferred into graphs, and charts.
The Web is a communication/presentation medium that
cannot be ignored; indeed, it interfaces with all content areas. Students
demonstrate knowledge in content areas while learning to Select appropriate
media for communication/presentation; Produce a work of quality; Be innovative;
Judge the quality and appropriateness of a document; Comply with copyright
law for both print and digital information.
