Please note that this policy is effective June 2007 through June 2008, and only for new students moving into the city of Portland.

The Portland School Committee voted to set geographic boundaries for students new to the Portland Public Schools and registering for high school at either Portland High or Deering High. In the past, Portland students were able to register at the high school of their choice.  Casco Bay High School continues to accept registrations from across the city.  The policy only applies from June 2007 through June 2008.

The new policy divides the city roughly down the middle north to south with new students west of the line attending DHS and those east of the line attending PHS.  The high school boundary line begins at the Falmouth town line:

·        South on Auburn Street to Allen’s Corner,

·        South on Allen Avenue to Morrill’s Corner,

·        South on Forest Avenue to Walton Street,

·        East on Walton Street to Ocean Avenue,

·        East on Austin Street to Baxter Boulevard,

·        South on Baxter Boulevard to Dartmouth Street,

·        Southwest on Dartmouth Street to St. John Street,

·        And south on St. John Street to the water.
