Executive Session

Consideration and action to go into Executive Session to discuss negotiations with the Portland Administrators’ Association (PAA), pursuant to 1 MRSA §405(6)(D).

Members Present: Rebecca Minnick, Susan Hopkins, Kate Snyder, Sarah Thompson, Robert O’Brien, Peter Eglinton, Jaimey Caron, John Coyne

Members not present: Lori Gramlich

At 5:45 p.m. Ms. Thompson moved, seconded Ms. Minnick and voted 8-0 to move into Executive session to discuss negotiations with the Portland Administrators’ Association (PAA) pursuant to

1 MRSA § 405 (6)(D).

At 6:05 p.m. Ms. Thompson moved, seconded , Ms. Minnick and voted 8-0 to come out of Executive Session.

Business Meeting

At 6:10 p.m. Mr. Coyne called the meeting to order.

Members Present: Rebecca Minnick, Susan Hopkins, Kate Snyder, Sarah Thompson, Robert O’Brien, Peter Eglinton, Jaimey Caron, John Coyne, Jules Szanton (arrived at 6:40pm), Joel Daley (arrived at 6:40pm) Joshua Tingley

Members not present: Lori Gramlich

1. Consideration and action to add the following teaching positions due to enrollment and student need. This will require no additional funding.

.5 FTE English at PHS

1.0 FTE English/Spanish at DHS

1.0 FTE Computer Teacher at King

1.0 FTE Kindergarten Teacher at Longfellow

Ms. Thompson moved, seconded Ms. Minnick to authorize adding the teaching positions listed.

Ms. Minnick moved, seconded Ms. Hopkins to consider positions separately.

Vote: It was voted 2-6 to consider positions separately. (Students- 1 yea, 1 nay)

Motion fails

Ms. Thompson moved, seconded Ms. Hopkins and voted 7-1 to do a roll call vote. (Students voted with majority)

Ms. Gramlich – absent Students: Mr. Tingley - yes

Ms. Minnick – yes Mr. Szanton- no

Ms. Hopkins – yes Mr. Daley - yes

Ms. Snyder – yes

Ms. Thompson – yes

Mr. O’Brien – yes

Mr. Eglinton – no

Mr. Caron – no

Mr. Coyne – yes

It was voted 6-2 to authorize adding the teaching positions listed. (Students- 2 yea, 1 nay)

It was moved, seconded and voted unanimously to adjourn the business meeting at 7:37pm

Committee then moved into a workshop session.
