Culture Club Logo
Established in 2012, Culture Club-Portland is a consortium of local arts organizations created to support cultural experiences for students in public schools.  The consortium, brought together by a generous anonymous donor, includes the Portland Museum of Art, Portland Ovations, Portland Stage, and Portland Symphony Orchestra.  Culture Club-Portland has the aspirational goal of providing a free arts experience in all four member organizations for every child in Portland Public Schools, every year. Culture Club-Portland programs are generously supported through the philanthropy of an anonymous benefactor, The Old Bug Light Foundation, and the Ernie Ayer Education Foundation.

Portland Stage Company

Portland Stage is proud to offer a series of Education Programs that connect to and reinforce Common Core Standards and are designed to grow with students as they progress through all grade-levels (K-12). Through Portland Stage programming, students are given the opportunity to work with professional actors and teaching artists. Our programs focus on literacy, cultural awareness, collaborative play, and creative thinking. Our teaching philosophy highlights process over product, deepening students’ ability to analyze, synthesize, and think critically while making connections to the thoughts and ideas behind the written word.

Our individually tailored in-school workshops with local teaching artists complement existing curriculum and promote arts integration in our schools, communities, and alternative learning spaces. Active engagement with Ovations curriculum guide allows for in-depth building of background knowledge and deep post-performance content connection and reflection.

The programs use conversation, inquiry, and interactive, hands-on activities to explore themes relevant to your students. Tour experiences are customizable, so students and teachers can connect classroom curriculum with specific artworks, topics, eras, or people—or just come here to experience something completely new.
