Safety Care Training Information

Safety Care Training FY 18:

Full Training - 12 hours of training is required for staff who have never been trained OR for staff whose certification has expired for more than 90 calendar days.  Please clear your participation with your building administrator or direct supervisor if during your regular workday.  There are two options for full training: (2) full days  from 8:00 - 3:00 OR (4) days 2:30 - 5:30 on early release Wednesdays and 3:30 - 6:30 on Thursdays - trainees need to attend all days for the chosen session.  The location of the training is listed beside each session. Click Here to Register


Recertification - 6 hours of training is required for recertification for staff whose certification is current or not expired for more than 90 calendar days.   Please clear your participation with your building administrator or direct supervisor if during your regular work day. Recertification is done in 2 sessions 2:30 - 5:30 on early release Wednesdays – trainees need to attend both sessions OR in 1 full-day session 8:00 - 3:00 as noted in the session choices. Click Here to Register

School Age Children -  Must have current Safety Care certification
While the procedures in the core Safety Care curriculum are applicable to working with individuals of any age, this additional module provides supplemental training specific to a younger population. It includes training in classroom and group management, additional procedures for intervening physically with smaller individuals who are behaving dangerously, and a small person carry procedure.  Please clear your participation with your building administrator or direct supervisor if during your regular work day.  3 hours of training is required and is done in 1 session 2:30-5:30 on early release Wednesdays.
