Lincoln Middle School sixth-graders in a technology class at the school have  been working with Junior Achievement of Maine and Gorham Savings Bank on the LaunchPad Junior program called, “It's My Business.”

Lincoln students will be competing against South Portland’s Mahoney Middle School and Gorham Middle School on Tuesday, June 6, at Hannaford Hall in the University of Southern Maine’s Abromson Community Education Center. The event will follow the pitches from LaunchPad finalists. Each school will receive $1,000 for participating.

“I'm very proud of the work my students have done,” said Shelley Burek, grade 6 technology teacher at Lincoln. “Their collaborative efforts and creative thinking have proven to be successful.”

The “It’s My Business” program is made possible through Gorham Savings Bank’s partnership with Junior Achievement of Maine. Employees from Gorham Savings Bank volunteered to teach the LaunchPad Junior lessons. During these lessons, the volunteers filmed students as they worked together to make their final “video pitch,” which will play for hundreds of people during the live LaunchPad event at USM. The learning experience promotes creative thinking, collaboration and business acumen.
