Three teachers from Lincoln Middle School and a teacher from Portland High School are finalists in a new competition designed to give K-12 educators the opportunity to try out highly innovative ideas in STEM teaching and learning. Classes are cancelled Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8, at two district schools that are used as polling places: Deering High School and East End Community School (EECS). The high voter turnout that day is expected to be too disruptive to student learning and poses security concerns. However, EECS has partnered with community organizations to offer lunch and activities off site for its students.  more
